Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

I remember when the first Pirates first was released fourteen years ago (!!) and going to see it with my family. As a kid, I was blown away by the special effects, the engrossing story, the fleshed out characters, the epic action scenes and, of course, the famous Jack Sparrow. Sorry! CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow! I think it was the first time I had seen Johnny Depp in a movie and after that, I was a fan. It was also released towards the end of Lord of the Rings, so Orlando Bloom's popularity was at an all-time high. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Too long, overstuffed and ultimately dissatisfying. Hated the Kraken being killed off-screen. Flawed but still entertaining. C+ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Unnecessary, forgettable and unworthy of the franchise. Only saved by Depp's performance and the action. Time to come to port? C-

Walt Disney Pictures Overly ambitious but fun, Johnny Depp still shines. Love intro to pirate lore, Davy Jones is a fantastic villain. Gets messy at end B+

For some time now, I've been thinking about other content I can share or different ways in which I can present content here for you all. I decided that there will be times I will want to review older films leading up to new installments or iterations, like the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but I didn't want to just do a typical review.
